Is only good if people post! Please dont be scared to post! People wont know who you are! Just A Citizen assured me of it! He/She is the one running this forum and said that you can hide what ever information you want in your profile!
This website isn't just for the pro levy people its for everyone! Lets hope that this forum can be our "middle ground" that everyone is talking about!

I just found out about it today and am happy to post. I don't have any problem with people posting under their real names or under screen names. I do think there is an advantage with screen names in that if there is a person that I don't like out there, but they post under a screen name and their idea or comment is thoughtful and good, I take it at face value instead of looking at it through the lens of really not liking the person. But because I don't know who it is, I am able to just weigh the idea on its own merits.

Definitely glad that this site started. I hope that everyone will keep with the idea that no matter how one voted, we're all here to find a solution.

Ok, I'm going to sound fickle, but could you please correct the title to read South-Western. You accidently made a typo and left out the R. Thanks!

I truely am a "mom on fence" over all of this. I fully agree with supporting the schools, however I must put my family and its well being first. My daughter will be a sophmore at WHS and my son a freshmen I also have a younger child not in full time school yet. My younger child is also a cancer patient who requires a variety of medication regularly. We reside in Prairie Township (where alot of no votes came from) but we are battling several issues in our area. I will admit that I am a no voter on the levy I simply can't afford it and I am hurt by the way the kids are used as pawns to get it passed. My daughter has participated in sports and enjoys it but she also understands that we can't pay for something we can't afford. Our neighborhood has seen its share of homes in forclosure, sitting empty for months, and homes on the market not going anywhere. It has been going on for more than the past year without the levy failing. We have a "wonderful" (not) water company that is helping push people out and making it harder to be able to afford anything extra (i.e. the levy). We pay 3x the water rates of those on City of Columbus water and they have just posed another rate increase to stagger up a little each year over the next 3 years. We don't get to vote on that, someone else decides it, it happens and you pay the bill or have no service. If it weren't for this, and maybe some of the way talks go with the levy, there would probably be more "yes" votes in our area. I also struggle with how the schools can legally strand kids who live outside (8-9 miles) the walk boundaries with no provided way to school. Because bet your behind, if the kids don't make it to school there will be truancy officials notified. How much will this cost the schools? Most of the talk has been about the loss of sports and extra curriculars, and not much emphasis on the bussing issue which I think honestly costs less for the district and will cause the biggest issue for students. Don't get me wrong, I think the kids need the activities and should be involved in something, but I think it is most important that they "not be left behind" and be able to get to school safely everyday. I feel the bussing should be re-instated immediately and work with people from the communities for ideas on how to work on the other issues cut by the levy faliure. Pretty much everyone everywhere is dealing with cuts, no raises, increases on insurance premiums. There just is no way to "squeeze blood from a turnip". There has to be another way, other districts have done it why can't SWCS?

I have lived in this district since I was 6 and I am 42 now. The hit we have taken on our property values are much larger than the $.75-$1.50/day we would have paid in taxes. Boy wouldn't my WHS Math teachers be proud of my calculations. Yes Momonthefence it is more than extracuriculars all the kids lost on this one.
